The II All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation "Theoretical and Applied aspects of electrochemical processes and corrosion Protection" held at Kazan National Research Technological University. For several days, the forum served as an important platform bringing together leading scientists, young researchers, graduate students and students interested in electrochemical technologies.
The work of the conference began with a plenary session. It was opened by the welcoming speech of the Vice-rector for Research and Innovation of KNRTU, Professor Ilfar Gilmutdinov. He emphasized the growing relevance of the conference topic in the modern technological landscape.
"Holding such a conference is not just an event in scientific life, but a reflection of the real needs of the economy," said Ilfar Malikovich. — Today, the challenges of creating efficient batteries, water purification systems and corrosion protection of materials are more acute than ever. Our university has historically had a strong foundation in this field, and it is important for us that the forum has become a platform where fundamental science meets the demands of industry."
Then, recognized experts in their field made key presentations. Honored Scientist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Professor of KNRTU Alexander Dresvyannikov addressed the audience with an introductory speech. In his speech, he, in particular, reminded his colleagues about the deep historical roots and continuity of generations in chemical science.
"Science, as you know, is being done by scientific teams in both the 20th and 21st centuries. And I want to say that even in the most difficult times, she never stopped moving. There was continuity, new achievements were always visible," said Alexander Fedorovich.
He also quoted Maxim Gorky, emphasizing the importance of knowing the past for understanding the present and determining the goals of the future: "Without knowing the past, it is impossible to understand the difficulty of the art of the present, it is impossible to determine the purpose of the future.…Therefore, I wish all of us to continue to reach new heights in our creative endeavor."
Professor Alexander Gorokhovsky from Saratov State Technical University named after Yuri Gagarin delivered a report on ultra-low-temperature superionic electrochemical systems at the plenary session. His presentation, like other presented works, found a lively response from the audience.
"I have been developing batteries for more than 15 years and I am very glad that this conference is dedicated to my topic. There is an opportunity to speak and listen to really interesting reports here," Mikhail Morozov, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics at the Institute of Physics and Technology, shared his impressions. "For example, the talk on low—temperature electrolytes that I just heard is exactly the area that will be actively developing in connection with progress in the creation of electric vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles." The scientist also highly appreciated the importance of the conference for establishing professional contacts. "Such forums are not just an exchange of scientific ideas, they are a powerful tool for networking. Representatives of Moscow State University and the Russian Academy of Sciences gathered here. The invaluable exchange that has taken place here will undoubtedly give a new impetus to the development of our research. Holding such events on a regular basis helps to update and bring to a new level scientific areas in universities, "— said Mikhail Morozov.
The conference traditionally focused on young people. Competitions of student and postgraduate papers were held within the framework of the forum, where the best research was determined. For many students, the conference was an opportunity not only to present their best practices, but also to outline vectors for future work.
"I am here today as a listener; it is useful to see different directions in the development of electrochemistry. I also present here my stand of our Electrochemical Synthesis laboratory, which reveals the tandem application of voltammetry and EPR spectroscopy to identify intermediates of phenazine oxidation. We plan to put the knowledge gained at the conference into practice," said Radel Mingazov, a 3rd—year student at the Butlerov Chemical Institute of KFU.
Summing up, the participants expressed confidence that the received impulses and new contacts will become the basis for future breakthrough projects in the field of electrochemistry and material protection.
