Dietrich Mayer gave lectures on thermochemical wood processing to KNRTU students

In February, 11 the original course of lectures by Professor Dietrich Mayer (Germany) started at KNRTU. This visit of German scientist was organized at the initiative of the Institute of Polymers (Chemical Technology of Wood Department) thanks to the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan grant “Algarysh”.

The professor gave the Institute of Polymers bachelor students a series of lectures on lignocellulosic biomass thermochemical processing problems.

Before giving lectures Professor Mayer met with KNRTU rector Sergey Yushko. In the course of a conversation, promising areas of scientific and educational interaction were considered.

Dietrich Mayer has a considerable experience in teaching original courses, is a regular participant of scientific conferences in Europe and all over the world. He is an author of more than 200 publications (114 of which are in refereed journals) and four registered patents. For over 35 years, he worked as a wood chemist in a German government research organization. He currently runs his own company “Thermophil International”.
