Kazan National Research Technological University has improved its position in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which assesses the representation of world universities on the Internet. As of January 2020, our University has risen 91 positions higher in the global part of the rating, moving from the 2464th line (July 2019) to the 2373rd (for comparison: KFU is on the 831st position, KNRTU-KAI occupies the 4505th position). Among the universities of the Russian Federation KNRTU takes 32nd place (for comparison: KFU — 10th, KNRTU-KAI — 117th).

The ranking is compiled by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group within the information and documentation Center of the Spanish High Council for scientific research. The rating evaluates the representation of universities on the Internet and is published twice a year. The study covers about 30.000 universities around the world.

The rating takes into account the University's representation on the Internet, the popularity of University Internet resources, publication activity and citation of scientific papers.
