On April 30, KNRTU hosted the qualifying stage of the Student League inPetrochemistry direction of the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN — the largest practice-oriented competition in Russia and the CIS countries for solving engineering cases (practical tasks). The theme of this year's championship is Technological Modernization.
Six teams from KNRTU and one team from the Mining University (Saint-Petersburg) participated in the qualifying stage, which was held online. They had to solve the Second Life of Plasticcase: it was necessary to propose a project for technological modernization of the main PET production using the input technology of secondary PET and taking into account the criteria of economic efficiency and environmental friendliness, as well as to assess the risks of investment in the modernization.
The solutions proposed by the teams were considered by an authoritative expert commission, which included representatives of universities and leading petrochemical industrial enterprises. Experts evaluated the work in terms of technology, economics, originality and novelty of the solution, the level of presentation, performance, and answers to the questions.
According to the selection results, the 1st place was taken by the IdLab team (KNRTU) consisting of: Sofia Goryacheva, Yulia Lvovna, Bulat Mingazov, Albert Musin. This team goes to the final of the International Engineering Championship CASE-IN.
2nd place — KNRTU team Otryad C consisting of: Andrey Konstantinov, Egor Parfenov, Darya Goloveshkina, Alexey Sorokin.
The 3rd place was taken by the team of Saint Petersburg Mining University Forty-two and a Half consisting of: Andrey Vydra, Igor Repin, Andrey Donskoy, Krylov Dmitry.
The winners will receive prizes from the championship partners.
