On may 25, a regular meeting of the Board of Directors of OJSC Tatneftekhiminvest-holding was held. It was chaired by the President of Tatarstan - Rustam Minnikhanov. The meeting was opened by Yuri Galyametdinov, Head of the Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry of KNRTU, who was made a report dedicated to the prospects of introducing modern high technologies based on fundamental developments of international level created at the University.
The topic of Professor Galyametdinov's speech was directly related to the range of issues currently being actively considered in the Republic at the highest level in connection with the creation of a scientific and educational center of international level in the Republic of Tatarstan.
In a detailed report, he introduced the leadership of the holding and the Republic with the progress and results of research conducted at the Department in the field of liquid crystal lanthanides and doped quantum dots (semiconductor materials consisting of nanoscale particles). These materials and compounds, as were demonstrated during the presentation, can become the basis for creating "smart" materials and form the basis of important applied technologies: obtaining transparent luminescent films of a wide range of applications (screens, showcases, etc.), modified polycarbonate for the construction of high-tech greenhouses with accelerated growth processes and increased productivity, luminescent sensors for non-contact visualization of temperature distribution on technological surfaces and biological objects, luminescent markers for protective marking of securities, industrial products, food and medicines. Developments of the team headed by Yuri Galyametdinov can find effective application in biomedicine.
The members of the Board of Directors got acquainted not only with the ways proposed at KNRTU to transform fundamental research of the highest international level (the speaker proudly noted that the publication of his staff are regularly published in the most authoritative, the first quartile, scientific journals) into industrial high technologies, including import-substituting, but also with the experience of already implemented program of training in specialized magistracy of KNRTU for specialists who are able to work at an appropriate level. Both scientific and educational directions in the study of lanthanides and quantum dots are effectively provided by the scientific team, which includes many young, but very productive and already settled researchers.
President Minnikhanov instructed the Head of the holding company, Rafinat Yarullin, to organize the process of implementing the developments discussed in the report at the Republic's industrial enterprises. There are technical opportunities to apply the high-tech developments of KNRTU scientists now.
At the same meeting, the issue of supercritical fluid technologies and their application in the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries was considered. The report was made by Mansur Farakhov, Director of Engineering-Promotional Center “Ingehim”, Professor of the Department of Processes and Devices of Chemical Technology of KNRTU. Research in the field of supercritical fluids is another area of science and technology that KNRTU is justly proud of.
During the speech prof. Farakhov said that supercritical fluids are in demand in the leading sectors of our industry — oil, agricultural, pharmaceutical. The example of using this technology for impregnating carbonate gravel interested the President of Tatarstan, who instructed the regional Ministry of Transport to start testing these developments in the construction of new highways. The speaker also suggested creating a regional center for processing of plant raw materials using supercritical fluids.
