KNRTU was included in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2020 – an international ranking of scientific institutions for 2020, prepared by the SCImago laboratory (Spain). It analyzes the activity of 7026 scientific institutions around the world, including 278 from Russia. KNRTU took 812th place in the overall ranking and 84th among Russian universities.

The Republic of Tatarstan was represented by 5 universities (KFU, KNRTU, Innopolis University, KSPEU, KSMU) and the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. KNRTU has been participating in the ranking since 2012.

The internationalSCImago Institutions Rankings has been issued annually since 2011. Universities are evaluated by three indicators: the assessment of research work (50% of the rating), innovation (30%) and social impact (20%).
