Within the KNRTU Online Doors Open Days project the first interview was released. Video № 1. KNRTU Online: Admission-2020. An interview with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee.
The guests of the video were Alexey Burmistrov, Vice - Rector for Academic Affairs of KNRTU, and Marat Galeev, Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee of our University. They answered the most relevant questions during the program. Here are some of them: ALEXEY BURMISTROV'S ANSWERS TO THE HOST'S QUESTIONS Why do you need to apply to KNRTU? AB: Now, applicants are choosing which university to go to. It is very important for young people to build a successful career. Tatarstan is a Republic of oil and petrochemicals, oil refining. In these industries, the wage level differs significantly from others and, therefore, KNRTU has always been a university that aims to train its graduates specifically for these industries. If you apply to KNRTU, you will definitely ensure a high standard of living and demand in the future. What professions can be mastered at KNRTU? AB: Of course, the main direction is Chemical Technology, but do not forget about the areas that are related to automation, food technology and biotechnology, and many other directions. Which companies are ready to accept a graduate of our University? AB: Our main partners are the largest companies of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia. These are Tatneft, TANECO, SIBUR, LUKOIL, Gazprom. Our graduates work not only in large enterprises, but also in small ones, some of which were created by them. These are various engineering graphic centers, design organizations. In particular, our university includes such a design institute – Soyuzkhimpromproekt, on the basis of which about 70% of KNRTU graduates work. An important selection criterion for these companies is a good grade point average (GPA) of diploma. Which faculties of KNRTU train future personnel specifically for Gazprom and Rosatom? AB: Almost all faculties have such kind of training. These two companies are high-tech companies that need specialists covering a wide range of knowledge, from chemists to mechanics. We should not forget about social workers. We are very proud of our economists. They are not just economists, they are experts in specific areas, most often in technical industries. What scholarships are provided for students? At the beginning of the academic year, each first-year student who studies full-time and on a budget basis is awarded a state academic scholarship. Currently, the minimum amount of the scholarship established by the government of the Russian Federation is 1,484 rubles/month - for students studying under the bachelor's degree and master's degree programs. As for KNRTU, the minimum scholarship amount is 1800 rubles/month. In order to receive a state academic scholarship after passing the first academic session, you must pass all exams without "Unsatisfactory" grades and also do not have unreasonable academic debts. According to the results of the first session, the student can be assigned either a basic scholarship – 1800 rubles, and if you receive only highest marks - an additional bonus of +2400 rubles. AB: As for the employment: on the one hand, our University does not particularly welcome the initiative to work while studying, which can lead to regular absence and academic debts, but, on the other hand, we try to treat these students with understanding and try to meet them half-way. It is known that almost 100% of master’s and PhD students of our university work, so for them classes are often held in the evening. I would like to add that we are certainly waiting for you all at our university. This enrolment 2020 will certainly go down in history. You will not regret, if you apply to Kazan National Research Technological University.
MARAT GALEEV’S ANSWERS TO THE HOST’S QUESTIONS What are the admission rules for this year? MG: This year, due to the pandemic, a new temporary admission procedure has been issued, which outlines all the main provisions that we will have to apply. The most important thing is that the entire process will be held remotely through our system, and all documents and exams will also be accepted online. What documents will applicants need to upload to the KNRTU website? MG: You will need to fill out an application, attach a scan copies of a passport, a document of education, a photo (as on passport), documents confirming the presence of individual achievements (if available), documents confirming the right to benefits (if available). Is it possible to register on June 20 and upload documents gradually or do I need to do it in one day? MG: We will start accepting documents from June 20 and you will be able to upload documents gradually. What should an applicant do if he/she forgot his/her personal account password? MG: You attach a phone number to the profile, and the website also has a support service that will send you your username and password. Do you need a digital signature to enroll via the KNRTU website? MG: It is not needed. How will the entrance exams for the master's degree programs be held? MG: Everything will take place online through our moodle system. When will enrollment take place this year? MG: As for the timing, it is a rather complicated issue, which will depend on the deadlines for passing the Unified State Exam in Russia. This issue has not been finalized yet. Documents will be accepted until August 31. But you should not delay uploading them to the website. We advise you to do this before August 26. Due to the current situation, you don’t have to delay the decision to submit documents. There may be a situation that there will be a very large number of students and processing time will increase, and it is possible that some documents will not be taken into account.
