On August 1, the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan met with representatives of the KNRTU administration and Uzbek students to solve their pressing current issues.
On the agenda were issues of providing financial assistance to citizens from Uzbekistan and returning home of University graduates. The meetings took place on the initiative of Consul General - Nuriddin Niezov, first - on the territory of Dormitory №2, and then - on the territory of Dormitory №3.
The meeting was also attended by Abdumanob Abdusattarov, Chairman of the National-Cultural Autonomy of Uzbeks of the Republic of Tatarstan, and representatives of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan. Representatives of our University were Svetlana Matveeva, Dean of the Faculty of International Educational Programs of KNRTU, Ramir Migranov, Chairman of the Foreign Students Community at KNRTU, and the commandants of Dormitories - Reseda Egorova and Raufjon Sattorov.
The topical issue for many students from Uzbekistan was returning home after completing their studies at the University. Graduates of Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees, who up until recently could not leave back home due to the airspace closures between countries because of coronavirus epidemic, now have this opportunity.
On the other hand, after the information that the new academic year will start in September in full-time format, not online, the planned departure was postponed by those students who are still far from thesis defence.
The University, together with the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, prepared documents to provide financial assistance to students from Uzbekistan. The Consulate assured its citizens that it will provide priority assistance for returning home to graduates who have already completed their studies. However, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the plane that flies weekly can accommodate only 200 people, while in the Volga Federal District 8,000 Uzbek students are studying, 4,000 of them study in Tatarstan, and about 600 of them - at KNRTU. The Consul assured that all documents submitted for departure will be processed, and graduates who have completed their training will be given priority with flying back home.
The meeting helped to clarify the plans of both the students who are leaving and those who are staying in Kazan.
The Head of the Diaspora also said that, according to the new rules of immigration law, foreigners who come to Russia to study no longer need to issue permits for employment and in some other way coordinate this intention with the University.
