On February 10, at the Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing an online meeting with an Iranian scientist, Dr. Abdolhossein Hemmati-Sarapardeh was held. Mr. Hemmati-Sarapardeh is one of the winners of International Young Scientists Awards, the competition sponsored by Gazprom, where he presented the project “Integrating nanotechnology and surfactant flooding for enhanced oil recovery: Experimental measurement and intelligent modeling”. His research work was highly appreciated by experts and following the results of the competition, he was awarded a “Cutting-edge Research and Innovation” special prize.
The idea of holding the meeting arose from the high interest of the young scientist in cooperation with Russian research fellows, first of all, from KNRTU, since they conduct scientific research on similar topics. The online meeting was attended by KNRTU Vice-rector for Research and Innovation Aleksandr Kopylov, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing Natalia Bashkirtseva, professor Andrey Sharifullin, associate professors Dmitry Kuryashov, Rifat Mingazov, engineer Rustem Sharipov, as well as project manager of the International Young Scientists Awards Marina Yundina and postgraduate students of the Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing.
Marina Yundina welcomed all the participants, thanked KNRTU representatives for their help in the meeting organization and told about the International Young Scientists Awards. Natalia Bashkirtseva presented the Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing, and Dmitry Kuryashov put emphasis on its research focus areas.
The meeting was mainly focused on a presentation of Dr. Hemmati-Sarapardeh. The researcher shared his work experience in different universities of the world, paying particular attention to his research work and describing in detail its key areas. The presentation arose the departmental research fellows’ and postgraduates’ great interest as well as many questions on specific topics. Colleagues had a great opportunity to discuss common research topics, methods, tools and techniques used in their scientific work.
In conclusion the Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Petroleum and Gas Processing pointed out that our university researchers and Dr. Hemmati-Sarapardeh have indeed a wide range of common scientific interests, and offered to develop collaborative work in the framework of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan grant programs.
The Vice-rector for Research and Innovation thanked the meeting participants and organizers, and put forward the idea of developing cooperation with the support of Russian Science Foundation and Iran National Science Foundation.
At the end of the meeting Dr. Hemmati-Sarapardeh extended his thanks to the organizers and KNRTU for the opportunity to present his research work. He also expressed hope that this videoconference was only the first step towards long-term and fruitful cooperation with our university.
