The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is one of the largest oil and gas companies in the region and is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan. Three production divisions, two oil refineries and one gas processing plant, an oil tanker fleet, a deep water platform fabrication yard, two trusts, one institution, and 22 subdivisions are operating as corporate entities under SOCAR.

The delegation of SOCAR was represented by the Vice-President for Strategic Development - Tofig Gahramanov, the Chairman of the Council of Supervisors of the "Azerikimya" Production Association - Mukhtar Babayev, the Head of Procurement Department - Mekhman Akberov, the Director of NIPI “Neftegaz” - Fakhraddin Ismailov and the Head of Construction Coordination Department - Teymur Aliyev.

SOCAR consider the Republic of Tatarstan as a strategic regional collaboration partner, including KNRTU as one of the largest research and educational center of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the meeting, the Rector of KNRTU – Dr. German Dyakonov presented KNRTU to the SOCAR delegation. The representatives of SOCAR expressed their interest in collaboration with KNRTU, particularly in the field of specialists training for special projects of Azerbaijan and its enterprises.
