On April 29, 2014, in the framework of the visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, the delegation from Iraq headed by the Ambassador Dr. Ismael S. Muhsin visited KNRTU to discuss collaboration opportunities.
The representatives of the delegation discussed the possibilities of collaboration with KNRTU. The alternative future projects in education and research were considered.
Vice-Rector Alyaev made the presentation of the university, pointed out all the possibilities of studying and training at our university, emphasized the opportunities opened to the foreign students and faculty as well as areas that can be considered interesting for the prospective joint educational programs.
At present there are 15 Iraq undergraduate and post graduate students getting their degree at KNRTU. Dr. Ismael S. Muhsin showed his interest in enlarging the number of the students studying in the university.
During the meeting there was noted that the system of academic exchange “sabbatical leave”, that exists at universities of Iraq. The idea of the program is to see the new existing areas and to find the suitable ones for the realization of some research work, then to develop the project on the territory of the foreign country, and as a result to transfer the new ideas to Iraq. This program is fully supported by the government of Iraq. In this way the Iraq is going to find the universities that match to KNRTU in their specializations and make further suggestions. He also said that it would be interesting for the academic staff to come to Kazan not only to learn the technology but to study the culture of the region. The Ambassador emphasized the importance to be focused on the research work and studies, and promised to provide all necessary support from the Iraq government.
