The meeting was held at the technological campus of Polytechnic University of Madrid. It was conducted with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Embassy of Russia in Spain, Rossotrudnichestvo and The Rectors Union of Spain universities.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Spain - Yuri Korchagin noted that 2015 announced the Cross year of the Russian language and literature in Spain and the Spanish language and literature in Russia. Various events dedicated to promote Russian and Spanish languages and aimed at promoting appropriate educational programs and enhancing academic mobility will be held for 2015.
During the working sessions of the meeting, the presentations of the current international projects of the leading universities of Russia and Spain were conducted. The prospects of mutually beneficial collaboration in the spheres of education and science of Russia and Spain, and the role of universities in the development of bilateral collaboration were discussed.

Both sides of the meeting came out for the prompt signing of a bilateral Agreement on mutual academic recognition of periods of study in higher educational institutions, documents on higher education, academic degrees and titles.

On November 7, the meeting of the heads of the Russian and Spanish universities was conducted at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Madrid in the framework of the workshop and the exhibition of the breakthroughs of the Russian leading universities, organized at the initiative of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation and Rossotrudnichestvo.
