At his meeting with Prime Minister of Kyrgyz Republic Dzhoomart Otorbayev in Bishkek, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the main purpose of the visit to Kyrgyz Republic is expansion of cooperation. “We appreciate the opportunity to develop cooperation between Tatarstan and Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of friendly Russia- Kyrgyzstan relations,” Minnikhanov said. Tatarstan and Kyrgyz Republic agreed to create a joint Intergovernmental Commission.

At the business forum “Kyrgyzstan – Tatarstan”, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the republics need to intensify cooperation in economic sectors. Among prospective areas of cooperation Rustam Minnikhanov pointed out energy sector, automotive and helicopter engineering, petrochemistry, production of automotive components, health care, high technologies, and transport industry. Prime Minister of Kyrgyz Republic Dzhoomart Otorbayev said that Kyrgyzstan is interested in investing in knowledge and high technologies. “I would like our business meetings to give impetus to our relations.” - he said.

In the framework of the visit to Bishkek, the President of Tatarstan met with the President of Kyrgyz Republic - Almazbek Atambaev. During the meeting, the prospects of collaboration between Tatarstan and Kyrgyz Republic in the field of trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

During the visit, Rustam Minnikhanov met representatives of Tatar community of Kyrgyz Republic and visited industrial enterprises, including OAO “Transnational Corporation “Dastan” as well.
