The program was established in 2022 by Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU) in cooperation with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) (Beijing, China). Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) is one of the leading universities directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, one of the First-Class Disciplines Initiative members, one of the Project 211 universities and one of Project 985 Innovation Platforms universities. It is a major national university in the People's Republic of China offering programs in engineering disciplines. BUCT and KNRTU are two partners enjoying long-term friendly relationships since 2012. On June 29, 2022, was signed an Agreement on Double Degree Program between Universities. According to this Agreement KNRTU students from the Institute of Polymers, who have successfully completed 2 years of their Bachelor’s degree program at KNRTU, have an opportunity to continue their 3rd and 4th years of studies at BUCT and get two diplomas of both universities upon graduation. Also, another agreement between Universities was signed in 2024, under which the students of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering for Chemical and Petrochemical Industry of KNRTU are eligible to participate in the Program. The Double Degree Program with Beijing University of Chemical Technology is an international educational form of outgoing academic mobility program, which is implemented under the support of the Priority 2030 program and is a part of the educational policy of the university. The study program is based on the experience of more than 10 years of cooperation with Beijing University of Chemical Technology - one of the leaders in the field of chemical industry.

Program structure
Full-time Bachelor's Degree program in 2+2 form. For the first two years students study in Russia in Russian, for the third and fourth years they go to China, where teaching is conducted entirely in English.

Tuition and accommodation fees
BUCT tuition fee 20 000 yuan/year Depending on the student's academic performance, the student may receive a discounted tuition rate at BUCT:
BUCT campus accommodation fee: from 70 yuan/day Based on the results of the interview with BUCT representatives it is possible to provide a 50% discount on accommodation at the North Campus from 1st to 3rd semester of study. Participation in the KNRTU-BUCT 2+2 Double Degree Program with the support of SIBUR (Russia)
The 2+2 Double Degree Program has attracted the attention of KNRTU industrial partner – SIBUR company, whose interest lies in highly qualified engineering specialists with developed intercultural competencies and experience in working with Chinese colleagues. This interest is driven by the construction of the world's largest basic polymer production complex in the Amur Region in collaboration with a leading Chinese corporation in the oil and gas industry. SIBUR company provides the following financial support for the selected students:
By participating in this Program with the support of SIBUR, students have to sign an agreement which provides their employment in the company within 2 years after graduation. Expenses not included in this list (medical care, insurance, transportation costs for obtaining a visa to the PRC) are covered by the Program participants themselves.

Admission Requirements for Candidates for the Program
The application is reviewed by a committee consisting of representatives from the university and the industrial partner. The committee analyzes the submitted application, assesses the candidates' academic performance, and evaluates the results of the entrance tests.
