History
The Department of Metal Technology was established in 1938. The first Department Chair was Associate Professor K.D. Borodulin. In 1949, it was headed by the former chief metallurgist of the defense plant, Associate Professor Pavel D. Gavrilov. From 1970 to 1980, the Department of Metal Technology was headed by Associate Professor Vladimir A. Kupriyanov.
In 1981, the Department was renamed to Construction Materials Technology. From 1980 to 2010, the Department was headed by Faat A. Garifullin, a graduate of the Mechanical Faculty of Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, eminent science and technology professional of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation. Since 2010, the Department has been headed by Guzel A. Aminova, Doctor of Engineering, Professor.

Research Activities
General research area of the Department is: scientific foundations for improving technological production process on the basis of integrated complexes (mathematical, software, laboratory, experimental) for managing the quality of the finished product in terms of solving the most important economic problems.
