History

The Department of Wood Processing was established in 1995.

Academics

The educational process is carried out in classrooms and laboratories equipped with computers and wood-working machines. The Department has a computer lab with internet access, as well as interactive learning tools. Computerized library catalogues are also available for students.

Research Activities

Department conducts research in the following areas:

• Convective drying of wood; capturing valuable and toxic volatile components during wood processing using condensation and adsorption methods; extraction of substances from wood bark and greenery; development of wood-polymer composite and thermal insulation materials (Supervisor: Professor Rushan G. Safin);
• Thermal methods of wood waste utilization; pyrolysis and gasification of wood; motor fuel components production from wood (Supervisor: Professor Nail F. Timerbaev);
• Desorption of solvents from adsorbents during their regeneration by pressure reduction in oscillating mode and electro-vacuum method; extraction of biological components from wood (Supervisor: Professor Dilara F. Ziatdinova);
• Pyrogenetic wood processing (Supervisor: Professor Denis V. Tuntsev);
• Composite materials based on wood (Supervisor: Associate Professor Sattarova Z.G.).
• Wood gasification with synthesis gas production (Supervisor: Associate Professor Almaz R. Sadrtdinov);
• Chemical and thermal wood modification (Supervisor: Professor Dmitry B. Prosvirnikov);
• Processing technologies of cellulose-containing materials in agriculture (Supervisor: Professor Dilara F. Ziatdinova, Full Professor Dmitry B. Prosvirnikov).
