History

On March 6, 1956, by order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR, the Department of Automation of Chemical Productions was established at Kazan Chemical Technological Institute based on the course ‘Control and Measuring Devices and Automation of Chemical Productions. Professor V. Malyshev was appointed Head of the Department

Academics

The Department offers the following educational programs:

Bachelor's Degree Program:

  • 09.03.01 – Computer Science and Engineering (Automated Systems of Information Processing and Management)

Master's Degree Programs:

09.04.01 Computer Science and Engineering in the following areas:

  • Information and measurement systems;
  • Design of the Virtual Information Space of Processes and Systems;
  • Computer Science in the Social Sphere.

Postgraduate and Doctoral programs are successfully functioning at the Department.

Specialists are trained by qualified lecturers at the Department. 4 Doctors of Technical Sciences, Professors, 14 Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors work at the Department. 6 laboratories are equipped with the modern facilities and devices for control and management, including equipment of the world's leading companies such as Yokogawa, OVEN, Emerson, Hewlett-Packard and 2 display classes with computing facilities and local area networks.

Graduates of the Department work in the following fields:

  • Automated Information Processing and Management Systems;
  • Computer Networks and Information Protection Systems of Databases and Data Banks in Various Sectors of the Economy;
  • Synthesis of Algorithmic Software and Software of Information and Measurement Systems and Control Centers.

Research Activities

The scientific direction of the Department is Information Technologies and Automation of Scientific Research, Physical Metrology, Thermophysics.

Scientific relations of the Department are determined by the interests of industries interested in high scientific technologies, such as gas and oil production, etc.

The Department conducts extensive work on modeling and management of heat and mass transfer processes.

The Department's research focus is on the physical principles of metrology for primary transducers.
