History

The Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Communication was founded in 2010 from the Department of Foreign Languages and the Department of Foreign Languages for Professional Communication.

Academics

The Department’s course load includes:

For students:

• Teaching the following disciplines “Business Foreign Language” and “Business Communication Practice” for the listed specialties: 08.05.01 “Management of Organization”, 08.05.02 “Economics and Management at the Enterprise” (by industry)”, 22.05.01 “Quality Management”, 23.02.01 “Information Systems and Technologies”.

For Master’s students in all areas:

• Teaching the disciplines: “Foreign Language” and “Foreign Language: Technical Translation”.

For Postgraduate students in all areas:

• Conducting entrance examinations for postgraduate programs, training candidates for the qualifying exam;
• Holding candidate Foreign Language examinations;
• teaching a foreign language within the additional qualification program “Translator in the field of professional communication”.

Research Activities

The Department’s general research focus: “Foreign language as a tool of intercultural professionally-oriented business communication”.

The main research activities:

• Studying psychological and pedagogical foundations, conditions and factors that foster a creative personality in foreign language studies in a Technical University;
• Developing a research-based course “Foreign Language in a Technical University”;
• Creating a set of textbooks, teaching aids, and methodological resources, that meet modern requirements of the communicative approach;
• Developing and designing an additional educational program “Translator in the sphere of professional activity” as the second competence;
• Establishing and implementing modern methods for intensification of foreign language studies”.
